Frequently Asked Questions

What is “a cooperative preschool”?
A cooperative preschool is organized by a group of families with similar philosophies.
The preschool is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization administered and maintained by the parents.  The parents assist the professional teachers in the classroom and each family shares in the business operation of the school.

Is my child required to understand both English & Spanish?
No.

Does my child need to be potty trained to attend the school?
No.

What is your class size and what is the adult to child ratio?
On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the maximum enrollment is 19.  There is a 1:4 adult/child ratio.  On Tuesday and Thursday we have a maximum enrollment of 15 children.  There is a 1:3 adult/child ratio.

What is the Co-op's relationship to The Miami Friends Meeting (Quakers)?
The school leases the space from the Friends, but is a totally separate legal entity.  The Friends have been very supportive throughout our formation, and we maintain active communication with them as well as with The Non-Violence Project, which is another organization housed on the second floor of the building.  The Bilingual Cooperative Preschool, The Friends, and The Non-Violence Project work together for the benefit of all organizations.
